Knife blades of high carbon steel can be hardened to HRC 59-60 giving best possible sharpness. Please note that most knives of carbon or laminated steel are oiled or treated to prevent rusting during transport and storing. Knives made from Carbon steel grades will after some use achieve a dullish grey finish. This will not negatively affect the quality of the blade. On the contrary, it will improve the resistance to corrosion.
