Vintage clothing is a trend in fashion consisting in a new interest in old clothes,
generally brand names or custom made garments that are typical items of an era that have a certain
style and design value. The 50s era with e.g. The New Look is especially popular. This may be related to
the fact
that clothes were not mass produced in earlier eras.
The U.S. Army developed the M-1943 Uniform beginning in 1942. Until the introduction of this uniform, the
Army had a variety of different combat
uniforms for each branch of service. By 1941, the infantry wore the wool flannel shirt and wool serge
trousers in winter and the cotton khaki shits and trousers in
summer, often with the M-1941 (or Parson's Jacket), and wore low-quartered leather shoes. Armoured units
still were using wool riding breeches and wore
high-lacing boots in some cases, and the Paratroopers were stuck with a general issue HBT coverall with no
real suitable footwear.
