Spitfire Supermarine model
This beautifully crafted Spitfire Model Airplane is a piece of history. It's both a collectors favourite and an impressive present for man or boy !
The material is glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) composite, a plastic material strengthened by glass fibres and finally covered with several protective coats of varnish after painting,
to withstand outdoor conditions.
There are also anchor points which enables it to be suspended.
The Supermarine Spitfire remains one of the classic fighter aircraft of all time, and certainly one of the most instantly recognizable.
In all, an estimated 22,579 Spitfires served in all spheres of the War and afterwards, and when whenever a visual reconstruction has occurred of
such events, they were generally rewritten to some degree around the aircraft available- almost entirely Spitfires.
For many people it is simply that the Spitfire is synonymous with the most effective aero engine of the War, the Rolls-Royce
Merlin. Others simply admire the beautiful lines of the airframe. There is no single link among the admirers of this line of aeroplanes.

In mid 1934 the Air Ministry released its requirement for an eight-gunned fighter to replace all the other fighters in service. It would reach over 275 mph and have an excellent rate of climb. The pilot would be seated in an enclosed cockpit which would house radio equipment and an oxygen supply that would enable the aircraft to fly at amazing heights. If it took too long for the aircraft to evolve, then the top speed would have to be at least 300 mph, or even 350 mph.
